Santiago Gasquet
1978, Buenos Aires
Santiago Gasquet (Buenos Aires, 1978) is a visual artist whose work spans painting, video, performance, and drawing, with a particular focus on the latter.Inspired by elements of collective thought such as fear, pop music and biased media typography, he seeks to narrate contemporary social issues. His work often delves into autobiographical themes, offering intimate perspectives on human problems and uncertainties while reflecting on iconic representations in art history to contemplate possible future scenarios.
After studying the magister at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Lola Mora and later specializing in printmaking and sculpture at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Gasquet honed his craft through various artistic programs and residencies. Among his recent solo exhibitions are “Tragedy” (Piedras, 2022-23) and “¿Dónde estoy?” (Museo de Bellas Artes de La Plata, 2018). Gasquet has also participated in group exhibitions at venues such as Matadero (Madrid) and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Salta (Salta).
